STU is really rocking. 17 cars in all and we were missing Jason, Ted and Mark. Pierre kicked some serious tuckus. I saw him coming on Saturday late in the day. I announced last heat and I had to suffer through his passing me by. Nice driving in a well-sorted car. He really looks good out there. 65.4 on street tires with far less than SP mods is pretty solid. I think my lowly Neon was capable of those times, but not with spastic Charlie behind the wheel. I was so gripped with fear (and torque steer) than I couldn't smooth out my inputs to save myself. 66.296 did beat all of STX by a second, and STS by a little bit. That's the first time I can remember beating all our tough STX guys and the first time I've beaten Will Kalman in competition and I was pretty excited by that even if the cars aren't a fair comparison (especially on that course). And Will seemed pumped too that I managed to pull it off and isn't that a cool thing about our sport?

Lot of neat personal triumphs Sunday. I don't know them all, but I know Bill Hogan taking down super tough Jeff Barco on the last lap was a big highlight of the day. Great battles in the SK classes and FS. Karl is on fire in that DSP Bimmer. Kai Hur? 68's in an Accord? Holy Honda! Liz Bacon smoked her last lap to takedown Bev and Christine. George Doganis was possessed in the morning heats. First a big slamdown on Harlan in CSP then an wild instructor lap 62 (with lots of cones in his wake) in an STU Evo. I'm still trying to figure that lap out. I think another rally car should be in his future. What can you say about Mike Simanyi's performance except note that PATCH HAS LEARNED TO DRIVE!!! Wow! 63.3 in a BS Bimmer (the fastest stock class time of the day). Lisa Severy and JoAnne Lynch always put on a show, but it was nice to see Theresa give them a real hard push! I loved announcing that battle. Kyle Williams smoked the course with a 61 in the old Berry family vette that I want my wife to buy (PUHLEEEEZE????).

Welcome Chris and Lisa Furia. You have to love a wife with an Evo8 and a husband trading in the WRX for an STi to keep up. :) The popular and fast rally cars are bringing a lot of good people into our sport. Watch out for Team Blew, they are coming on strong! Great also to see Gauthum's wife giving it a try! She's a natural.

The Formula Juniors had some new faces with 9 drivers not including the Haneda's son who ran Saturday's practice and Lisa Berry who was missing. That group seems strong and getting stronger. The future is theirs. Kyle Mosso is looking good in the big Kart picking buckets of time. Dean Call looks like a pro out there. The whole group looks like they are having fun.

Great event on a very different style course that was as thrilling as anything I've ever driven. I'm still re-living those laps. Can I have just one more???

Ditto uniquely challenging, safe and fun course. One of my favoritse in many years of racing in parking lots.
